New Media, New Structures: How Digital Journalists Frame Renewable Energy Stories
Abstract
How do online media professionals educate the public about environmental impacts of energy issues? While past research suggests media utilize concise episodic frames to clearly convey the news, this study found that for environmental energy topics, communicators used thematic frames to more thoroughly articulate complex scientific energy issues for online audiences. Thus, journalistic framing of energy issues can highlight environmental impacts through more informative online science communication.
