Highly Sensitive and Selective Detection of Mercury (II) Ions with Fluorescent Au Nanodots
Abstract
We introduce a one-pot synthesis strategy to prepare
fluorescent Au nanodots (AuNDs) for highly sensitive and
selective Mercury (II) ions (Hg2+) detection in aqueous solution.
The sensing mechanism is attributed to strong metal-metal
interactions between Hg2+ and Au+ induced fluorescence
quenching of AuNDs. The limit of detection (LOD, S/N = 3) is 0.1
nM for Hg2+.
