Consolidation of Success Factors in Data Mining Projects

Abstract

Businesses in today’s environment increasingly focus on gaining competitive advantages and the effective use of data is a key element in business competitiveness. Many organizations are increasingly aware of the potential of the data mining technology in an effort to capture, warehouse and utilize historical data to support evidence-based decision making.
To deploy data mining projects successfully, organizations need to know the key factors for successful data mining. While numerous studies investigated various characteristics and benefits of data mining, few studies have addressed the critical success factors of data mining. Based on the literature on data mining and related topics and a survey with data mining professionals, this study attempts to identify such critical successful factors that can guide decision makers as well as researchers.
