How Mentoring Functions Predict Mentors’ Leadership Skills?

Abstract


The purpose of this study was to investigate whether mentoring functions predict leadership skills. A sample of 83 university student mentors was collected from a formal mentoring program cooperated by a university and a local government in Seoul, Korea. Mentors taught and supported middle and high school students in local community for four months. Standard multiple regression analysis was used for data analysis. The results showed that mentoring functions significantly predict mentors’ leadership skills. Based on the results, implications and suggestions for future research were discussed.
